Eggs in Clouds

Eggs in Clouds are a light, fluffy, and elegant breakfast dish featuring whipped egg whites baked to perfection with a rich, golden yolk nestled in the center. This unique recipe is as fun to make as it is to eat!

Ingredients:

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (or your preferred cheese)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: Chopped herbs like chives or parsley for garnish

Steps:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

  2. Separate the Eggs:
Carefully separate the egg whites from the yolks, keeping the yolks intact. Place the yolks in individual small bowls and the whites in a larger mixing bowl.

  3. Whip the Egg Whites:
Using an electric mixer or a whisk, beat the egg whites until they form stiff peaks. Gently fold in the grated cheese and a pinch of salt and pepper for added flavor.

  4. Shape the Clouds:
Spoon the whipped egg whites onto the prepared baking sheet, creating four small mounds. Use the back of a spoon to make a well in the center of each mound.

  5. Bake the Whites:
Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake the egg white clouds for 3 minutes to set their structure slightly.

  6. Add the Yolks:
Carefully spoon one egg yolk into the well of each cloud. Return the tray to the oven and bake for an additional 3-5 minutes, or until the yolks are set to your liking.

  7. Serve:
Remove the eggs from the oven and transfer them to plates. Garnish with fresh herbs, additional cheese, or a sprinkle of pepper, and serve immediately.

Eggs in Clouds are a delightful twist on a classic breakfast, combining beautiful presentation with simple preparation. Perfect for a special brunch or a fun weekday treat!
